My journey into somatic experiencing began almost two years ago as an SE client myself. Having been in consistent therapy for years, I found the go-to Trauma modalities to not be very helpful . Somatic based therapy was the 'thing' that shifted everything for me. It made sense to my science-y brain and most importantly, it worked (like spooky good)
Connection - the most important piece to the healing puzzle. I am not here to pathologize you, I am here to meet you where you are. We will work together to feel the fear, grief, and rage, and along the way take in the good. And that means you feeling good with me, my energy, and my uniqueness.
I unfortunately cannot do your healing or achieve your goals for you. But I am pretty good at making space, validating, challenging, and celebrating.
I am committed to continually seeking support for myself as a helper
I believe that feeling seen and being supported can be better than any 'modality'
I believe in you and your autonomy
I believe in collective liberation
I recognize we can only heal as much as systems of oppression still exist
We will listen your body and nervous system, noticing how your survival patterns and learned behaviors may show up.
The magic happens when we start to nurture the natural shift of these patterns. Your body knows how to exists in a more fluid way. We will gently support that shift in you, and most importantly, we will nurture you coming home to yourself.
I do not have all the answers and certainly do not pretend to.
But I do believe YOU have everything you need to heal.
Trauma healing is a journey made better with friends.
